Obiettivi del Corso

il Corso di “Storia della Città e del Territorio” tende a fornire selezionati  strumenti finalizzati alla  analisi e alla conoscenza della complessa Storia della città. Il Corso, prendendo spunto dalle peculiarità lessicali dei termini ‘città’ e ‘territorio’, intende illustrare le dinamiche urbane e architettoniche che hanno contribuito a riempire di senso quelle specifiche  definizioni. A tal fine, saranno analizzate alcune vicende esemplari che hanno determinato le diverse configurazioni architettoniche e urbane dei casi presi in esame: una casistica selezionata, rintracciabile all’interno dell’arco cronologico compreso tra l’Età classica e l’Età contemporanea, con particolari attenzioni riservate alla città italiana e alla città di Roma. Attraverso la ciclica e costante dialettica riscontrabile tra le varie Arti figurative e le dinamiche urbane, si cercherà di porre in risalto la natura e gli effetti di quell’ineludibile intreccio dialettico rinvenibile nella genesi, nell’evoluzione e nelle varie tessere che hanno contribuito a delineare l’articolato mosaico tipico del territorio e della città.

The aim of this course “History of the city and its territory” is to provide students with carefully selected intellectual tools designed to enhance their ability to analyze and be aware of the complex History of the city. This course, by initially taking into account the lexical peculiarities of the terms “city” and “territory”, will illustrate the urban and architectonic dynamics which have contributed to enrich these specific definitions with meaning. To this purpose some important examples will be selected, examples chosen within the Classical and the Contemporary period, and that have determined various urban and architectonic configurations. Particular attention will be devoted to the Italian city and especially to the city of Rome. Through the cyclical and constant dialectics between the figurative and the urban arts what will be emphasized is the nature and the effects of that inevitable interweaving upon the birth, the evolution and all the ‘tiles’ that have contributed to the creation of the varied ‘mosaic’ which is typical of the city and its territory.
